Mr Gavin Coote – Non-Executive Chairman
Member of the Board since 12 January 2017 and Chairman since 28 March 2017.
Mr Coote brings significant executive leadership and business building experience across broad industry sectors. This experience includes five years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, a decade in technology mergers & acquisitions, corporate development, venture investing in the United States and fifteen years in Australian-based SME private equity at Imperium Capital Group across healthcare, industrial and residential construction materials, leisure and hospitality, and sports and entertainment. He has played significant roles in several turnaround and acquisition-led growth strategies culminating in successful exits, including NASDAQ-listed Platinum Technology Inc., where revenues grew from $100 million to over $1 billion in four years and was sold to CA Technologies for $3.5 billion.
Gavin has a Bachelor of Economics & Politics (Accounting) from Monash University, a Masters of Business Administration from University of Michigan, and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Ms Joanne Bryant – Non-Executive Director
Ms Bryant is a graduate of Lincoln Institute of Health Science and with an Applied Science degree, has more than 40 years of experience as an occupational therapist, trainer and vocational specialist. She has worked with numerous organisations in both the public and private sectors to enhance individual workplace performance.
Joanne is actively involved in the not-for-profit sector, and is a Board member of Outside The Locker Room. She manages a privately-owned investment company and owns and manages a vocational consulting group.
Ms Julie King – Non-Executive Director
Ms King holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She has more than 40 years experience in commercial and property negotiations, corporate communications, people and change management in the maritime, airline, banking and FMCG industries. Julie is also a Director of a number of privately owned businesses and the King Family Foundation. Julie and her husband operate self storage businesses.
Mr Paul Wright – Non-Executive Director
Mr Wright has spent the last 18 years as CEO of three of Australia’s leading international technology companies.
At ASX-listed Universal Biosensors (“UBI”), Paul built long term partnerships with global diagnostics leaders Siemens Healthcare and Johnson & Johnson, and led the company through a period of strong growth and new product development.
Before UBI, Paul was CEO of Invetech (1999-2007), an internationally renowned product design and development company, and Vision BioSystems (2007-2008), the major subsidiary of ASX-listed Vision Systems Limited that developed, manufactured and marketed diagnostic instruments and consumables to pathology laboratories worldwide.
Prior to this, Paul spent over 8 years working in Europe, North America and Asia with corporate strategy consultants Bain & Company, advising multi-national clients on growth strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and manufacturing improvement. As General Manager of Corporate Development at TNT Logistics, Paul played a key role in the development of a major contract logistics business in Asia establishing Joint Venture businesses in China, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
Paul has a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, has studied corporate finance at the London Business School, and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Ms Alyn Tai – Corporate Counsel and Company Secretary
Ms Tai is a practising lawyer who specialises in the areas of corporate and commercial law, and the provision of company secretarial, corporate governance and legal counsel services to entities listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. Alyn holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Exeter, and was called to the Bar of England and Wales before being admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria as an Australian lawyer.
Mr Peter R. Lewis AM – Group Chief Executive Officer
Mr Lewis is an accomplished executive with 25+ years’ experience in leading technology-based companies with a variety of roles across R&D, finance, M&A, international trade and sales & marketing. Peter was previously a Director of Hydrix, Australia’s premier product development consulting firm, and before that had roles including Head of Corporate Business Development for CSIRO and Chief Technology Officer for BlueAnt Wireless. Peter was previously the youngest-ever appointment to the role of Consul General (deputy ambassador) and Senior Trade Commissioner to the USA for Australia. Peter was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2015 for his ‘Significant service to international trade and to the Australian Biotechnology and Information Technology industries’.
Peter has a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Western Australia, an MBA from Deakin University and has completed executive courses at Stanford University and INSEAD.
Mr Peter Russell – Chief Operations Officer
Mr Russell has 30+ years’ of business leadership experience across a number of industries including technology, aged care and agriculture. Peter is currently the non-executive chairman of Snap Printing and was previously joint owner and CEO of Rylands (retirement villages) and Peppers. Peter has a number of qualifications in business, marketing and management undertaken variously at Curtin (WA), Monash (VIC), and Harvard University (USA). Peter is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Dr John Bumgarner – Chief Research Officer
With over 20 years of industry and academic MEMS technology experience, Dr Bumgarner has substantial technical capability, including most recently as a Consultant for Process Development and Device Fabrication for a major US technology company. He served as Operations Director at Stanford University’s Nanofabrication Facility. In addition to his academic roles, John has held a number of industry roles, including as a Process Engineer and Manager at world leading technology company Intel Corp, Vice President of Engineering at leading supplier of solutions that promote energy efficiency, Kyma Technologies and Laboratory Director at SRI International, a non-profit research institute that performs client-sponsored research and development into innovative technologies. John was an Associate Research Professor focused on MEMS technology at the University of Western Australia (UWA).
John has a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from North Carolina State University, and Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University in the US.
Mr Mark Langham – Financial Controller
Mr Langham is a versatile accounting executive with experience in multiple industry sectors gained through his work in public practice, SME private equity, and professional service firms over the past 15+ years’. Mark has a Bachelor of Business & Commerce (Accounting & Economics) from Monash University, a Diploma of Financial Planning from Kaplan Professional, is a Registered Tax Agent and Financial Advisor, and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.
